The next phase of the NSW portable Long Service Leave scheme is now on our doorstep, with the first set of lodgements due by 13 May.
Unlike traditional long service leave (which is tied to one employer), the new scheme allows eligible workers to accumulate leave across multiple employers within the sector.
Since mid-2025, we’ve been working hard to help clients prepare for the changes. During April 2026, we’ll be collaborating closely with clients that have engaged us to help with this phase. The focus is on registering your employees in the scheme, and delivering the first PLSL lodgements. The Long Service Corporation advises that the employer portal will be available for lodgements to be submitted from 29 April through to 13 May.
Portable Long Service Leave is a significant shift for the sector. While it adds some compliance and cost considerations, it also delivers a meaningful benefit to a highly mobile workforce - something that aligns closely with the values of the non-profit space.
