In a previous post we flagged news that portable long service leave (LSL) will be introduced for community services workers in NSW. The new scheme will officially begin on 1 July 2025.
This follows Queensland, the ACT and Victoria, who’ve had similar schemes in place for a number of years.
In the lead up to this milestone, Purpose will work closely with affected clients to prepare for the change. Behind the scenes, we are working through the detailed accounting treatment and new procedures that will be used to manage LSL entitlement, upon introduction of the scheme.
Purpose will have comprehensive processes available to guide affected clients through each stage of the process. We’ll be offering support across the following key aspects:
- Help to assess whether your organisation qualifies for the scheme;
- Guidance through the submission process; and
- Support to implement transitional arrangements.
While early planning is underway, we await further information from the NSW Government on the details of transitional arrangements.
