Sony Bonang

Sony is a CPA qualified senior practitioner, with over 20 years’ experience supporting non-profits to build strong and sustainable financial management.

Sony co-founded Purpose Accounting in 2014, with a vision to help organisations achieve their mission, through sustainable financial management. He has a personal passion for increasing the quality and rigour of financial management, championing accurate, compliant, and reliable accounts.

With a background in financial accounting, and many years spent in practice environments, Sony loves guiding clients through the non-profit landscape. He has experience supporting organisations across a range of sub-sectors, including community services, health, early childhood and education, disability, housing and Aboriginal services.

As Director of Purpose’s accounting practice, Sony leads the technical direction of our services, ensuring that Purpose is at the forefront of compliance and regulatory change in the sector.

He is the go-to for complex technical advisory; the application of Australian Accounting Standards; advanced analysis and financial modelling; and leveraging new technology to support strong financial management.
