As a proud Biripi and Anaiwan woman, Mel has specialised in leading Aboriginal affairs and community development throughout her career.
Her most recent position was in the Department of Communities and Justice, where she worked on the frontline as an Aboriginal Specialist Senior Client Service Officer, supporting the community during the pandemic with temporary and long-term housing needs, as well as in policy development.
Prior to that, Mel worked in the NFP and commercial sectors in contracts administration; reporting; and business development. She has also volunteered in mentoring programs, supporting Aboriginal youth, business support, funding submissions, and disability initiatives.
Mel has a TAFE Cert III in Business and is currently completing a Bachelor of Business and Commerce (majoring in Accounting). Mel’s medium-term plan is to reach CPA qualification and specialise in the non-profit/social enterprise sector and Aboriginal economic development.
